Shirley Nell Guinn Yandell, 78, passed from this life Friday, February 24, 2017 in Wichita Falls. Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 2, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in Morrison Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Pioneer Cemetery under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.
Shirley was born in Munday May 24, 1938 to the late Louis Cecil Guinn, Sr. "Louie" and Bessie (Shaw) Guinn. She graduated from Munday High School and was a Majorette for the Munday Moguls. She was a beauty queen, in many beauty contest. She even was asked to take a screen-test in New York City, but she turned the offer down. She married Don Ervin Yandell June 16, 1956. They moved to Graham where she went to work for Hexcel and retired there when the plant closed after 25 years. She was in the Graham Hospital Auxiliary, the Garden Club and a member of Eastside Church of Christ.
She loved the Lord and every person in her big family, including her dogs; Missy, Laci, and Suzie.
She was preceded in death by sisters, Mary Newkurt, Virginia Bess Jackson, and Donie Loffler and brothers, L.C. Guinn, Jr and Wilkie Guinn.
Survivors include: husband, Don Ervin Yandell of Wichita Falls; daughter, Kim Hupp and husband, Don of Wichita Falls; granddaughter, Kayla Hupp of Wichita Falls; brothers, Alfred Guinn of Wichita Falls and Jerry Guinn of Knox City; sister, Patsy Todd and husband, Lamar of Canyon City, Colorado.
Visitation will be held Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Association of North Texas or Hospice of Wichita Falls.
