Thelma E. McDonald Easterling, 98, passed away Thursday, April 1, 2010 in Graham, Texas. Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 5, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in the First Baptist Church of Graham with Reverend Richard Segars officiating. Interment will follow in Pioneer Cemetery under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.

A daughter of the late John T. McDonald and Ruby Robinson, she was born March 22, 1912 in Josephine, Collin County, Texas. The family moved to Young County in 1922. She graduated from Newcastle High School in 1929. Thelma and her husband of 65 years, Haskell Easterling, were married on May 29, 1933. He preceded her in death on January 19, 1999. Two brothers, Ernest McDonald and wife Beatrice, and Stanley McDonald also preceded her in death. A graduate of the University of North Texas, Denton, Texas with a B.S. and Masters Degree, she taught school for thirty years in Young County. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Society for more than 50 years and Graham Retired Teachers Association. She was a long time member of First Baptist Church in Graham, having taught a Sunday School class for many years.

Survivors include her daughters, Rubyetta Cain and husband Bob of Graham and Yvonne Watts and husband Jim of Lubbock; five grandchildren, Bobby Cain and wife Anne, Renee Nobles, J.C. Watts and wife Laura, Nikki and husband Norman Beichler, and David Watts and wife Sheryn; and 12 great grandchildren; also nephews Jimmy and Harold McDonald and niece Sue McDonald Davis.
