Walter Henry Byerly

Walter Henry Byerly, 87, passed away Monday, October 21, 2019 surrounded by his family at his home. Services will be Friday, October 25, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. at First Baptist Church under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.

Walter was born in Brown County on the family farm November 13, 1931 to the late Iva McClanahan and Lee Byerly. He married his high school sweetheart, Mary Jane Akers, in Graham, on December 23, 1950 at First Baptist Church. He was a long time member of FBC where he faithfully served as Sunday School teacher and wherever he was needed. He was a hard working man and always provided for his family. He enjoyed horseback riding, working with cattle, snow skiing with his family and vacations in the mountains.

He is survived by his wife of almost 69 years, Mary Jane Byerly of Graham; 2 daughters, Sylvia of Ft. Collins, Colorado and Jan Crow of Graham; 1 son Scott of Graham; 7 grandchildren, Beraiah Byerly of Anchorage, Alaska, Chance and Shara Crow of Cuero, TX, Joshua and Sarah Crow of Georgetown, TX, MacKenzie Crow of Stephenville, TX, Misty Seals of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Sloan Byerly of Austin, TX, and Sam Byerly of Graham. He also had 4 great grandchildren, Maverick, Marston, Marshal, and Samuel Crow.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Iva McClanahan Byerly, his father Lee Byerly, his brother Jack Byerly and an aunt who raised him Hettie McClanahan.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, October 24, from 6-8 P. M.
