William "Will" Dale Proffitt, 57, of Graham, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday , June 19, 2014 in Graham. Funeral services are scheduled for 3:00pm Sunday, June 22, 2014 at the Graham Church of God. Burial will follow at Pioneer Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.
Will was born January 11, 1957 in San Angelo, Texas to Hollis William and Fay Dell (Calhoun) Proffitt. He married Myrtle Elizabeth Davis on April 5, 1991 in Graham. Will's passion at an early age was radio. He worked for KSWA in Graham for 34 years, hosting The Gospel Hour and the Graham Trading Post. In 1985 Will hosted his own gospel music TV program called "Keep On Trucking" which aired all over Texas and Oklahoma. He received the first "Southern Gospel DJ of The Year Award". Will wrote several gospel songs which were published. Later in life Will worked at the Graham Walmart having worked in the sporting goods department. He was a faithful member of the Graham Church of God.
Survivors include: wife; Myrtle Proffitt, sons; Ronald Ray Westerman and wife Mary, Arlin Westerman and wife Heather, William Chad Proffitt and Phillip Matthew Maples and wife Alyssa all of Graham, sisters; Margie Marie Barr and husband Ira of Graham, Brenda Ann Jones and husband Dick of Fort Worth, mother; Fay Proffitt of Graham. Eleven grandchildren and one great grandchild also survive. Will was preceded in death by his father Hollis William Proffitt and his grandparents John and Katie Proffitt and Albert and Mabel Calhoun.
Family visitation will be Saturday from 6 until 8pm at the funeral home.
