Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 19, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. in Morrison Funeral Home Chapel with Gary Tull of Graham officiating. Burial will follow at Gooseneck Cemetery in Young County under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.
Willie Mae was born on September 30, 1926 in Concho, Arizona to the late William Clinton and Sara Frances (Hughes) Bunger. Most of her childhood was spent in Arizona. When she reached her teen years she and her family returned to their former home near Bunger, Texas. The small community near Graham had been named for her ancestors. Her grandfather, W.T. Bunger, served as Young County Sheriff in 1884 when the former courthouse was built. His name is memorialized at the courthouse arch.
She married Wayland T. Boddie, August 7, 1956 in Graham. She moved with him as he worked in the oilfields. They returned to Graham where they lived out the remainder of their lives. He preceded her in death on May 6, 1991. After her husbands death she lived quietly at home. She loved stray animals and going shopping. As a member of First Baptist Church, she lived out her faith by sharing a favorite inspirational poem with those she hoped it would help.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her siblings, Jim Bunger, Roy Bunger, and Florence Bunger Wright.
She is survived by a niece, Doreen Wright McDonald of Prescott, Arizona and a nephew, Dennis Wright of Batesville, Arkansas.
